Update on 2015 Columbia Sockeye Run

This year’s Columbia sockeye return has already surpassed the pre-season estimate, even though it isn’t quite the bumper return the initial numbers indicated. To date about 425k sockeye have gone over Bonneville dam, compared with the 392k estimate.  Which, if you notice, is much better than the historical averages.

My personal guess is that the run will end close to 470k total.

Looking at the daily numbers we see  that there are 2 spikes.  I believe the first spike are fish mainly bound for the Okanogan, and the second spike are fish mainly headed for Lake Wenatchee.

I’m already seeing lots of great reports from Brewster Pool, so if you haven’t already grab your gear and hit Lake Pateros.  Fishing should be excellent for the next couple of weeks!
