Rigging a Hoochie and Ace High Fly Combo

In other posts I’ve talked about how this is my go to setup when fishing for coho in Puget Sound.

Here is information on how to make the setup and rig it up.

First get your hoochie and Ace High Fly.  Here is my favorite combination.Rigging Coho Hoochie And Ace High Fly - Part 1

Next, tie 2 hooks on to your leader, with the desired amount of distance between them.

Next slide on some beads to keep the head off the top hook.

Now take the hoochie and hold it upside down.  Lay the legs out to the sides, so they will be out of the way.

Now slide the Ace High Fly inside.  I prefer to line up the eyes of the hoochie and ace high fly.

Now slide it down the leader.  I gently spin the hoochie back and forth as I slide it down, so the legs will stay out of the line.

If one grabs the line and rides it into the body, then simply start pulling the leader out until it is free and resume.
